Signed Up for Spartan Super & Sprint - Arms & Shoulders - Great Pace

Signed up for the Tri State Super Spartan on Saturday, September 6th with an early morning start time (9 am  - 10:30) If you register for the Diablo promotion (666 miles and a 300 burpee penalty) you get a code for 20% off any Spartan Race. I used it for this.

Last week I signed up for the Tri State (NY - Tuxedo Ridge) Spartan Sprint for Sunday, June 1st with an early morning start time (9 - 10 am).

2014 Schedule looks like this:
  • Spartan Sprint - June 1st
  • Super Spartan - September 6th
  • Spartan Beast - Late September **pre registered but not confirmed**
  • Tri State Tough Mudder - October 11th/12th

Great workout. Had a great pace today. Keeping good with the diet and it is showing although the results are delayed since I am still working off the binge from a week or two ago.

Also, the hanging leg raises that I am doing are turning into toes to bar. I got through 6 in a set and finished with regular hanging leg raises for the remainder of the 10 rep set.

Warm Up:
Arms & Shoulders - 15 reps 1st circuit, 12 reps for 2nd, 10 reps for 3rd, 8 reps for 4th, 6 reps for 5th moving up in weight on each circuit. Do 5 circuits.
Incorporate 10 core reps (sit ups, elevated feet russian twists with weights, leg-ups, decline crossover sit ups, v-ups) in between each set and 10 burpees at the end of each circuit.

Notes / Results:
  • Weight: 201. Keeping on diet and expect to be at 199 by weekend.
  • Time: 55 minutes. Under 60 minutes for 5 circuits. Good pace.

  • Barbell Front Raise: max 6 reps @ 75 pounds on 5th circuit. Ready to move up in weight here.
  • Lying Dumbbell Triceps Extension: max 6 reps @ 35 on 5th circuit. Tough finish. Can hold at this weight for next time.
  • Seated Barbell Shoulder Press: max 6 reps @ 85 pounds on 5th circuit. Tough finish but probably ready to challenge next weight or at least start heavier and get to 85 pounds on 4th & 5th circuits.
  • Standing Dumbbell Curl: max 3 reps @ 55 pounds on 5th circuit. Running into a plateau that I need to break through.
